The buyer is a person, not a fund. Here is the person.

Selling a business is a trust decision. This page is so you can check out who you would be handing it to.

About Eric Pierce

Eric Pierce has spent nearly twenty years leading technology and operations in manufacturing, industrial, and energy businesses, and North River Holdings is where that career points. He started as a founder and principal at Endeavor Engineering in Hillsboro, growing a consulting and engineering firm that served Fortune 100 manufacturing clients. In the same years he ran Pierce Investments, buying houses, doing the remodel work himself, and selling or renting them, hands-on operator experience he still uses. In 2011 he co-founded Innovari, a Portland energy management company, where he wrote the business plan, shopped venture partners, and landed the $4 million in venture capital that started the business, then served as its chief information officer through product commercialization and global growth. The work produced two United States patents in grid optimization and energy systems.

From 2018 to 2025 he was chief information officer of The Greenbrier Companies, sitting on the executive leadership team of a publicly traded global industrial company. There he ran a technology portfolio of more than $50 million and a global team of more than 100 people, delivered over $5 million in annualized savings by consolidating fragmented systems into integrated platforms, and remediated the company's SOX control weaknesses. He is a graduate of Oregon State University, where he played football, a former board member of the Technology Association of Oregon, and a longtime Oregon resident and owner builder.

His view runs through all of it: every business is a system. How the work flows, how decisions get made, how information moves. Good local businesses already run that system well. What their owners often lack, when it is time to step back, is anyone to hand it to.

The record, briefly

$50M+ portfolio

Enterprise technology portfolio and a global team of 100+ led as CIO of a publicly traded industrial company.

$5M+ saved annually

Delivered through platform consolidation and operating discipline, not headcount games.

Builder and founder

Raised $4 million in venture capital as a co-founder and holds two U.S. patents. Oregon State University graduate.

He has been on the other side of deals like yours

At Greenbrier, Eric led the integration of acquired manufacturing operations: common processes, shared systems, standard procedures, and getting the workforce through the change with the business intact. He also executed the separation of divested operations across North America and Europe. That experience cuts both ways, and it is why North River handles a handoff the way it does. He has seen what a careless transition does to the people inside a business, and what a careful one preserves. It also means he has sat on every side of the table: raising venture capital as a founder, integrating acquisitions as an operator, and answering to a public company board and its auditors as an executive. Owners, brokers, and capital partners are all trusting the same person, and the record above is why they can.

Why North River exists

Eric started North River after watching good local businesses close when their owners retired with no successor. Decades of reputation, a trained crew, and customers who depended on them, gone, not because the business failed, but because there was no handoff. North River exists to be that handoff: a permanent, local owner who keeps the name, the team, and the customers, and gives the business the back office support to keep growing.

North River is not a private equity fund and has no exit deadline. It does not flip businesses, load them with debt, or strip them for parts. It buys a small number of good businesses and holds them.

How North River supports its companies

A shared back office

Scheduling, billing, payroll, marketing, and reporting handled centrally, so local operators spend their time on customers and crews instead of paperwork.

Operators run the business

The people who know the work keep running the work. North River supports from behind the scenes; it does not move in and take over the counter.

Companies that help each other

Our businesses serve the same communities, and they refer and support each other where it makes sense for the customer.

For brokers and advisors

A principal, not a committee

You deal with the founder directly. There is no investment committee, no fund approval process, and no partner vote between a conversation and a decision. That means a fast, honest yes or no.

Your fee is protected

Broker fees are honored and protected. Bring us a business that fits and your work is respected in writing, the way it should be.

Ready to close

Banked capital and financing relationships are in place for the right acquisition, and proof of funds is available on request for a live opportunity. Every submission gets a reply within two business days.

What fits: established, profitable service businesses in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest with a team in place and an owner ready for a next chapter. What does not: startups, turnarounds, and businesses that are really just a job for the owner. A straight answer early is better for your seller and for us.
